“As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.” – Winnie the Pooh.
I had the opportunity to attend the opening show of Kick Start’s Winnie the Pooh and it was an absolute delight.
Seated and waiting for the show to begin I saw the theatre slowly fill with excitement (mine included) the audience, mesmerized by the beautiful stage design of the Hundred Acre Wood. As the lights were dimmed, the last remaining excited voices hushed, the stage came to life with the cast. Christopher Robin and his beloved friends took us on an adventure filled with songs and poems about little rain clouds, honey pots and bees.

The antics of Tigger and Roo – who can’t seem to stop bouncing, Rabbits schemes and Eeyore’s gloomy disposition keep the younger crowd on the edge of their seats, whilst the parents and grandparents in fits of laughter. The actors accurately portrayed the personality of the characters which we have all come to love, while engaging the little ones with their favorites.
This is a play not to be missed this holiday. It will keep the kids entertained and have them singing ‘Pooh Sticks’ for the rest of the day.
Winnie the Pooh will perform at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on UKZN campus until the 17 July, with performances at 2.30pm Tues-Sun and 7pm Fri. Kindly note no babes in arms are allowed, or children under the age of three. Book for all the 2016 KickstArt productions at Computicket.
