School is out and the summer holiday you’ve been waiting for is finally here. Celebrate the holidays with your family and friends with Ster Kinekor’s pre-release screenings of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Thursday, 12 December and Disney’s Frozen on Monday, 16 December.

Ster-Kinekor is giving you the chance to catch special pre-release screenings of some of the year’s most anticipated titles during December. You could be among the first movie-goers in the country to catch these films on the big screen, before their national release.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), as he journeys with the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and his thirteen dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), on an epic quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain and the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering all manner of creatures along the way, including the skin-changer, Beorn, and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood.

After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the dwarves journey to Lake-town. They come finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all — a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself — the Dragon, Smaug.

Disney-Frozen

In Frozen, the kingdom of Arendelle has two princesses, Elsa (Idina Menzel), the soon-to-be Queen, and Anna (Kristen Bell). Elsa has the ability to create snow and ice, but has suppressed these powers after a traumatic childhood incident involving Anna. After her cryokinetic powers get out of hand during her official July coronation, Elsa goes into hiding but her emotions trigger a magical and eternal winter that freezes the entire kingdom.

The arrogant Duke of Weselton (Alan Tudyk) plots to turn everyone against ‘the monster’, Elsa, for his own devilish needs. However, Anna, who is a fearless and daring optimist, undertakes a journey to find Elsa. She travels with the extreme mountain man, Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), and his reindeer sidekick, Sven, in an epic journey, encountering mystical trolls, a comical snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad), Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn, in a race to find the Snow Queen, as Elsa is now knows, save their kingdom from eternal winter and make things right before it is too late.
