Beluga is because it does the best sushi that I have even put my mouth too. So fresh, so tasty, so amazing. The best sushi experience is always at Beluga 🙂

Beluga is my favourite of the two, great friendly service, best peppercrusted/salted steak in Durban, awesome calamari with peanut sauce and those honey & duck pot stickers are legendary. Wish i could work there, lots of inspiration and creativity. Why beluga and not sevruga? Only because beluga is a bigger venue, more space, feels less crowded and i like space 🙂

They say you should eat to live but not live to eat. Having said that, when you do sucuumb to the need to eat, make sure you eat the best that money can buy. Well hello, Beluga! The name sure sounds exotic but trust me the cuisine will blow your mind away. Think fresh seafood, innovative sushi & an extensive wine cellar!I have had the honour of dining at Beluga when I visited Cape Town & I was mesmerised by the fusion cuisine which was beautifully presented. Well, imagine my delight when I saw that Beluga is right here in sunny Durbs! I had to pay them a visit so I could tuck into the delicious cuisine. I adore the decor, the brave culinary combinations, the heavenly desserts, stunning hostesses & most importantly the vibe! It’s about time that Durbs got an injection of international cuisine. Weekends will never be the same now that Beluga & Sevruga are in town. Did I mention that the best Creme brûlée is served there! Ok then, I am putting Beluga on speeddial!!

I absolutely can never get enough of Beluga since I am a dim sum addict of note. It is the place which always springs to micd first when I need to take clients for lunch or an afternoon with friends. Of course the ambience, the efficient staff, good parking and the phenomenal wine list are all positives which ensure that I keep coming back for more.

Sitting on the verandah at Sevruga, Gateway sipping on a gin mojito, as recommended by the manager, whilst nibbling on fresh sushi is a great Sunday afternoon treat!

Both restaurants are amazing, and both bring awesome memories to mind – wine and sushi at Beluga with my mum and sister while we catch up and people watch and then cocktails and dim sum at Sevruga with my man, sitting ‘outside’ enjoying the laughter of kids on the slides and the clink of champagne glasses as the man at the table beside us proposed to his now fiance.
If I had to pick though, I’d go for Sevruga upstairs as it gets the last on the afternoon sun…
    xx

Sevruga – because it’s a bit quieter (hidden gem below the virgin active gym) – also they offer the hand rolls with either cucumber or sea-weed, whilst Beluga only offers them with seaweed.

tough choice – I’ve eaten at both and love the food and the experience. But if I had to choose it would be Beluga . . . .to start off its a closer walk from my flat :), the food is awesome, the waiters are friendly and deliver excellent service, the food arrives timeously and the restaurant itself is gorgeous!!

The restaurant BELUGA appeals to me. The name reminds me of the Italian Fashion House Bugari; famous for opulence, quality, expensive & from the looks of it the Beluga restaurant doesn’t mind patrons dancing on the bar counter drinking Moet & Chandon Champagne; I would fit in well!

I am biased because my first experience of Caviar was Beluga in Cape Town & it became our weekly sushi date to satisfy our cravings so every visit to the Durban one immediately reminds me of the good times at the CT branch – it’s like travelling to another city for a meal :). I love the decor! Reminds me of a New York Sushi Bar & creates a cosy & warm environment to get tucked into amazing main meals or divine fresh sushi. I love Sevruga, but Beluga’s got me wrapped around it’s fingers! 🙂
