As part of Gagasi FM’s annual Corporate Social Initiative, this festive season will see the team travelling around KZN making a difference, by doing one Good Deed at a time. The station aims to positively touch communities, make a difference and encourage listeners to get involved in their communities.
The first stop was the Ilangil’tholakhona summer campaign launch, a beach festival held at Sunkist Beach on the 1st of December, where listeners were encouraged to update their status by getting tested in support of World AIDS Day.
Then on Friday, 6 December Gagasi FM moved to Sikhona Care Centre which cares for orphanages and vulnerable children, where food parcels were distributed. Then on Saturday, December 8 they moved to Pietermaritzburg, Winston Churchill Theatre where Gagasi FM joined the Dance 2 Inspire Grand Finale which harnesses the power of music & dance to inspire young people to get tested for HIV/AIDS. There was entertainment from various SA artists and more importantly mobile testing sites where young people voluntary received counselling and got tested for HIV.
All roads lead to Newcastle on the 11th of December to KwaHilda Ongcwele Community Care Centre which takes care of orphans and vulnerable children. The team will host a Christmas party for over 360 children and spend the day celebrating, giving their time and love, before moving on to the Soccer Clinic with AmaZulu FC in Ulundi on Friday, December 13th where Amazulu coaches and Gagasi DJ’s will inspire the youth to aspire for great things despite their circumstances.
Then on Sunday, December 15th the station will visit NkosiSihawukele Disabled Care Centre in Empangeni for a summer clean-up, which will see the Gagasi FM team scrubbing, sweeping and cleaning the home, providing new bed linen and presenting each child with a Christmas gift.
Finally, the last stop will be Port Shepstone on Thursday, December 19th where you will find the Ikhayalethu Home of Love and Care, this home cares for the aged as well as disabled persons. Gagasi FM will be lending their support by donating necessities from food to diapers. The home is in much need of assistance with their water and electricity bill, Gagasi is calling on the public to help by donating towards settling their electricity and water bill by emailing their pledges to gooddeeds@gagasi995.co.za.
Alongside the Good Deeds, Gagasi FM will also be hosting the ilangil’tholakhona – the KZN Summer Take-over – that will see a host of parties all over KZN with well-known DJ’s.
