I am one who religiously buys my favourite décor magazine monthly, sometimes even twice! So, when I heard that Decorex SA was making its way to Durban… I.had.to.go!

One could literally get lost in the amazingness that is Decorex SA. Rows and rows of beautifully decorated stalls (stuff my dreams are made of), showcasing their creativity and craft from breathtaking chandeliers, Persian rugs, hand crafted items to magnificent KitchenAids (on the birthday wish list) perched on top of counters like works of art.

Not only was there a lot to see but also tons of yummy things to taste; a little wine here, some beer there (thanx Standeven Brewery!) We didn’t have lunch there but we hear that Afro’s strips and tjips were a winner! Another worthy mention is the taste bud tantalizing thirst quenching Tropika Smoothie… heaven on earth I tell ya, especially on a hot Durban day!

We also came across a real gem of a person who crafts your name into a piece of wire by bending it… this is done with such speed and accuracy, something I know I wouldn’t have the patience for! A lovely gift idea and a brilliant way to support some local talent! His name is Christopher Kennedy and you can contact him on christhewireart@gmail.com.

Thank you Decorex SA for showing Durbanites how to live beautifully; we spent a wonderful day in what truly felt like home (or at least the one in my dreams for the time being.) We look forward to next year… until then I will continue buying my décor magazines and dream of that chandelier handing in my kitchen above my KitchenAid…
