Gateway shoppers are in for an exciting experience during August, September and October when ten of South Africa’s top celebrities will take part in the second Gateway Celebrity Chef Showdown at six of Gateway’s restaurants.
This year’s celebrity lineup includes, popular Isidingo actress, Leeanda Reddy; model and Survivor South Africa winner, Vanessa Marawa; Bold and the Beautiful actress and face of cosmetic brand, L’Oreal Paris, Terry Pheto; East Coast Radio breakfast show co-host, Natarah Nadesan; five times SAMA nominated and MTV Africa Music Awards winners, Gangs of Ballet; award-winning actress, TV and radio presenter, Rosie Motene; Oscar Trial 199 anchor and journalist, John Webb as well as actor, MC, producer and entrepreneur, Tumisho Masha.
Last year’s participants and winners, Deena Naidoo and Stefan Terblanche will again take part in this year’s Celebrity Chef Showdown. It’s been 12 months since we saw Stefan go head to head with Tatum Keshwar at Gateway’s Cape Town Fish Market. “The last 12 months have been great and I have spent a small amount of time in the kitchen. Whether it’s more or less than last year is debatable,” laughs Stefan.
Stefan has said that this year he is looking forward to a new challenge, the new opposition and an entirely different menu at a new restaurant.
Gateway’s Celebrity Chef Showdown Dates and Venues
Visitors to Gateway are invited to make bookings to attend any of the six evenings in order to enjoy a night of good food, entertainment and healthy competition.
On each of the restaurant’s evenings, the meals prepared by the celebrities will be in line with the restaurants normal menu offering. Times are 18h30 for 19h00 at R180 per person for a set menu which includes; a starter, main and dessert.
- 27 August – Stefan Terblanche vs. Leeanda Reddy: Ocean Basket
- 3 September – Vanessa Marawa vs. Terry Pheto: Circus Circus
- 10 September – Deena Naidoo vs. Natarah Nadesan: Nino’s
- 17 September – Gangs of Ballet vs. Rosie Motene: Mo-Zam-Bik
- 24 September – John Webb vs. Tumisho Masha: Café Limone
All winning celebs will take part in a final evening which will be held on 1 October at Beluga.
Each celebrity that competes will select a local charity of their choice at the start of the campaign. 10% of the income generated through these events will be donated to the winning celebrity’s charity of choice.
