Billy Ocean Caribbean Queen.i grew up listening to the 80’s music. It would be an amazing and exciting experience to see thesingers perform live in concert. Those were the good old days listening to timeless classics.
When I heard that Go West was coming, I called my sister immediately to tell her 🙂 We laughed so much when I played it over the phone. My sister and I know the song word for word somehow and we don’t know how (hehehe). We knew the song but we didn’t know who sang it 🙂 We are both children of the 80’s and we grew up with our dad playing cassettes from his tape deck. What fantastic memories we have! #80sRewindSA The song that I am so looking forward to is King of Wishful Thinking by Go West (hehehe). My sister and I know the song word for word somehow and we don’t know how (hehehe). Cannot wait to get our groove on when they get on stage (hehehe).
Hi, I was Born in the 80’s, grew up listening to music from the 50’s – 80’s, was greatly influenced by my late father and truly appreciate the genius of the artists of the 80’s who created magic with every lyric they wrote. i appreciate this music and my daughter who is now 3 is only listening to music from the 50’s – 90’s as the new stuff aint music but noise and does not make sense…i want to win to honour my dad’s memory for showing me what MUSIC really is…
Billy Ocean!!! No contest, he rocked the 80’s like only he can! Caribbean Queen, Get out of my dreams, when the going gets tuff and I think suddenly was also his song? Him and Lionel Richie were the coolest hottest items! That was my teen years 18/19/20, they are a huge part of my memories, when it comes to 80’s music! Crazy and Lotsa Fun those days!!
My sister in law is dying to go to this show. So am I. It looks like it is going to be an amazing evening. Would absolutely love to take her out for a great night.

No matter what age I get, I will always feel like a kid listening to that song. I would love to go to this show because you don’t get music like 80s music!
Wang Chung (Everybody have Fun Tonight)….reminds me of our school disco’s, it would be awesome to re-live those memories 😀

These artists are all good but if I had to choose a favourite, I would have to go local, with Cinema. I have good memories of playing my cassettes until the tape stretched and my vinyls until they were scratched while singing at the top of my voice and dancing around my parents living room…
OH MY SOUL! What a huge competition! And how does one choose a favourite? But if I have to… It would be Cutting Crew with I just died in your arms tonight. I get goosies every time I hear this song. My sister, her bff and their hubbies are going to the festival… I would LOVE the opportunity of going too. Thanks for the opportunity Durbanite 🙂
Katrina (ex katrina and the waves) walking on the sunshine! I simply love this track! Its my feel good song! Its even my alarm tone and my ring tone! It would be oh so amazing to go back in time and see it live and party like its 1985! Totally love the 80s!
My best friend and I love walking on the sunshine, katrina and the waves. We’re always dancing to it in our pjs holding an hair brush lol, it brings such a great vibe to all our get togethers! This song has so many of our memories attached to it. We would love to attend the show but unfortunately we can’t afford the tickets. Winning would mean so much.

Its the 80’s… Hubby absolutely loves that era of music… Would be a fantastic anniversary pressie for him….Can’t pick a favourite but Billy Ocean – Get outta my dreams, get into my car… comes to mind easily… Hubby’s favourite might defer …. but all the artists are on his favourite lists!!
Nik Kershaw – Wouldn’t it be good. Oh my goodness, I would do anything to see him!!! The 80’s was my era, all this music was when I was a teenager, this festival is what I am all about and I would love to attend!!!
I won’t let the sun go down on me by Nik Kershaw has to be an all time favourite, this music is simply the best, no other era can compete with the 80’s
We Close Our Eyes by Go West – is there any other song that is as good as this one? Is there any other decade that can be as good as the 80’s? I don’t think so 🙂
Billy Ocean – Stay The Night (1980) is a song that brings back such great memories for me, I was in High School in the 80’s, this is MY music, MY generation, MY time, I loved the 80’s, they were the best and nothing can compare to that time. I would do anything to attend this festival and be transported back to a time when everything was so perfect and the music was fantastic!!!
I just died in your arms tonight by Cutting Crew .. fingers crossed, hope the hubby and I win these tickets
Oh I absolutely LOVE SA band Cinema’s song “My Kind of Girl”, what an absolute classic! Takes me back to happy childhood days! Would love to hear go and see them live… Proudly South African!
My mom’s absolute favourite is Katrina – ex Katrina and the Waves – Walking on sunshine. We call her “Sunshine”. We have the singstar 80’s and we sing to it almost all the time. I would love to take her to the concert. She is a crazy 80’s fan.
I would love to hear Heather from the M People sing “Search for a hero” It has a very special place in my heart for my Oupa. It would truly make my year!
Billy Ocean Carribean Queen My husband and i are huge 80’s fan and we both grew up listening to the amazing 80’s hits. It would be an honour and a priviledge to watch these talented singers perform live at GrowthPoint Stadium on Saturday 7February 2015 as well as a dream come true.
Awesome blog and website, really love the insight into what is happening in Durbs. After living in Durban my whole life, I really didn’t realise how much was going on and what we had to experience in this awesome city! I absolutely love the 80’s era – and we often have Singstar evenings and belt out all the hits – it’s an absolute hoot! You can be sure I will be belting out all the lyrics if we win the tickets, especially “Walking on Sunshine”!
Billy Ocean, the soundtrack to my childhood!
A child of the 80s who would love to see Loverboy BILLY OCEAN GOing WEST with the King Of Wishful Thinking NICHOLAS DAVID KERSHAW who has The Riddle and is Holding On to HEATHER SMALL. While HAZELL DEAN continues Searchin’ for a FACE TO FACE with CINEMA so that they can find that special ‘My Kind Of Girl’ as they dance with KATRINA. They will all have fun tonight as WANG CHUNG joins them to sing and everyone swoons to CUTTING CREWs’ I Just Died In your Arms.
A definite experience to be imbedded in my memory forever.
My mums favorite Billy Ocean Song “When the going gets tough” would be a blessing for her to see him perform live. the 80s music certainly leaves a mark till this very day
Nik Kershaw singing “I won’t let the sun go down go down on me” has to be one of my favourite songs of all time. It takes me back to the good old days in East London in high school with friends who are still friends to this very day. The 80’s were a very special time and all the songs still play in my home today. What a way to go back to yesteryear than seeing them all in concert one more time!
I love Heather Small from MPeople, and have hooked my 16 year old daughter onto the music from the 80’s we love dancing and singing to all kinds of 80’s music. I would love to take her to experience something like that with me. Plus it would be an awesome birthday present for me!! Heehee!! Xxxx
My Brother and I definitely have the love of 80’s music in common, it is undoubtedly the best Genre of Music ever, when we were little, we used to wait for the songs on the radio and record them onto tapes and play them back and enjoy for hours.
Listening to a collaboration of so many 80’s songs on one night will be a dream come true, and to hear them live will be awesome. I would love for my brother and I to go to this concert and re-live our childhood memories, we really need that to just have one night of our childhood again, Please, Please Please, pick me!!!! Thank you
I would love to go I love all 80’s music after all I was born in 1983. I’ve got my 3 year old singing Walking on Sunshine and I love Billy Ocean !!!!!! I would love to go
