Nevermind the roof on fire… the floor was on fire in this hot dance performance: Burn the Floor which entertained Durbanites at the  iZulu Theatre Sibaya Casino,  Durban: 8 – 19 June.

It’s such a delight when a show like this one can come out to Durbs. To witness talent from across the globe is such a privilege for us Durbanites. Especially our very own talent. There were many ‘Proudly South African’ moments throughout the show.

Incase you didn’t know, 3 of the performers were straight out of SA, and they were absolutely phenomenal! I was extremely proud to be a South African – local is lekka! The singer Lelo Ramasimong was out-of-this-world, the hairs on my arms were up every time she came on stage.

Here comes a spoiler alert, the show starts off set in the Victorian times and is then interrupted by a more modern dark time which is such a contrast and unexpected. The crowd were watching every move of the performers, there were many moments of clapping in awe of the talent they all had.

The show received a standing ovation from all their fans. I would certainly go and watch this show numerous times and every time would be the same feeling of excitement, admiration and sense of pride for these performers. A very well done!

This is no ordinary show, but something you have to experience at least once to really appreciate the dance industry. A huge congrats to the director / choreographer Peta Roby and everyone else behind the scenes for making the show such an incredible one and worth the money spent.
