Glorious weather was the order of the day for a very special version of the Marriott Ballito Beats Music Concert that took place this past Sunday afternoon. South African music legends Ard Matthews and Arno Carstens teamed up on stage for the very first time, playing an intimate and entertaining set to eager fans at Sugar Rush Park in Ballito.

Durbanite were lucky enough to attend this epic event (along with just over 1200 locals) and we.were.not.disappointed! #Ardo as Ard fondly referred to the duo were rocking the crowd both young and old, we even spotted the photographers jamming back stage between clicks. With songs like Sugar Man, What He Means and Another Universe, it was a musical treat for fans of all ages.

The talented Seb Goldswain opened the show with a set that merged jazz with banjo-sounding country melodies and an array of acoustic effects. Goldswain brought a fresh and unique sound to the grassy lawns of Sugar Rush Park where fans mingled with friends and families, enjoying picnics and the warm sunshine.

“Sunday’s show was a great success. With a combined musical expertise that spans 35 years, the collaboration of Ard Matthews and Arno Carstens created a really unique show for our fans and we’re thrilled that our final show for the year was such a crowd pleaser,” says Marriott Ballito Beats Series Director Stu Berry. “We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to the concert on Sunday, and to all our other shows this year. Spending time outdoors with family and friends is important to the local community, and it reaffirms our commitment of bringing the very best family entertainment to Ballito.”
