We recently paid a visit to the incredible aha Gateway Hotel where we got to spend the weekend.
With views of the Gateway Wavehouse and its surrounds, one can enjoy this all at the glass-styled Fig Tree Café inside aha Gateway Hotel. With its contemporary menu incorporating a tantalizing array of delectable Durban dishes that are classically simple and well presented.

Durban is one of the best holiday destinations in South Africa, while Umhlanga is a trendsetter in offering great lifestyle and accommodation.
Speckled with adventure activities, blessed with natural beauty, it’s a paradise known for its gorgeous coastline of sun-kissed beaches and subtropical climate.
The aha Gateway Hotel offers hospitality close to Kings Park Stadium, Gateway Theatre of Shopping, Go Wild park, Absa Park Rugby Stadium, uMhlanga beaches, uShaka Marine World, Durban Botanic Gardens and the Valley of a 1000 Hills.

Upon arrival, check-in was a breeze, with a kind receptionist taking down our names and handing us our hotel card.

We made our way to our room and placed our bags down before snapping a whole bunch of pictures of our room.
It was a beautiful spacious room equipped with a king-sized bed, shower, bath, balcony and a mini bar fridge.

We were surprised with a cute display of towels made up to look like elephants. A note with some snacks and two bottles of wine were also left for us to enjoy upon arrival.

In the evening, we decided to have dinner at Gateway Theatre of Shopping. We loved how easily accessible the mall was, with only a short walk that connected to the entrance of Gateway!
The next morning we were served a scrumptious buffet breakfast at the Fig Tree Cafe. Run by the talented, Chef Kjell Ogle, he ensures that there’s something for everyone, ranging from light to hearty meals.
Breakfast is served from 6:30am – 10:30am.

The rest of the day was spent with a spot of shopping at Gateway, followed by relaxing at the rooftop pool – and what a view it has! The rooftop pool offers an incredible view of the Wavehouse and the city.

Sleeping was a gem – with blackout curtains that prevent the early morning sun from disturbing your sleep.
Needless to say, we had an enjoyable stay at aha Gateway Hotel and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great stay in Umhlanga.
